Dear users of Herwig and ThePEG,

we're happy to announce a new major release in the Herwig 7
series, Herwig 7.1.0, with the matching release of ThePEG 2.1.0.

The main new feature is NLO multijet merging, please see below for a
list of further improvements. We have cleaned up the structure of the
input files and made them much more consistent. Please see the example
files or contact us if one of your existing files does not work any
longer; the required changes are minimal.

The latest version of the bootstrap script at

    https://herwig.hepforge.org/herwig-bootstrap

can be used to install all dependencies as well as ThePEG and Herwig
consistently. Existing users should also install a completely fresh
setup, since we have switched to C++-11 from this version onwards.

As always, contact <herwig at projects.hepforge.org> with any questions or
comments, or use our newly re-opened bug tracker at

    https://herwig.hepforge.org/trac/

with user name "new" and password "ticket". Don't forget your email
address in the CC field!

With best regards,

    The Herwig developers
