Dear users of Herwig and ThePEG,

We're happy to announce a new major release in the Herwig 7
series, Herwig 7.2.0, with the matching release of ThePEG 2.2.0.
(At the same time there is also a new bug fix release in the 7.1 series,
Herwig 7.1.6, with the matching release of ThePEG 2.1.6, for the LHC experiments.)

This version introduces a number of improvements, notably: improvements to the simulation of
multiple-parton interactions, including diffractive processes; a new model for baryonic colour re-
connection; spin correlations in both the dipole and angular-ordered parton showers; improvements
to strangeness production; an improved choice of evolution variable in the angular-ordered parton
shower; support for generic Lorentz structures in BSM models.

Further details can be found in the release note https://herwig.hepforge.org/release-7-2.pdf

The latest version of the bootstrap script at

    https://herwig.hepforge.org/herwig-bootstrap

can be used to install all dependencies as well as ThePEG and Herwig
consistently. N.B. from this version we no long support compilers before gcc4.9.

As always, please contact <herwig at projects.hepforge.org> with any questions or
comments

With best regards,

    The Herwig developers
