[PyFeyn] I cannot install the packageAndy Buckley andy.buckley at ed.ac.ukThu Jun 9 18:37:05 BST 2011
Hi again Rebeca, Georg (the "other PyFeyn guy") points out to me that this message doesn't actually indicate any problem with PyFeyn: it's an issue with the installation script for the PyX package that we build upon: this seems to have installation problems on Macs that I've never seen on Linux (well, I install python-pyx from my system package manager rather than using easy-install). So there's probably nothing that we can do to help, other than to suggest manually installing PyX (http://pyx.sourceforge.net/) or using a Mac OS X package manager to do that (something like Fink, although this may be more trouble than it's worth) Cheers, Andy On 08/06/11 14:06, Andy Buckley wrote: > On 27/04/11 09:27, Rebeca Gonzalez Suarez wrote: >> Hi, >> I'm trying to install pyFeyn in my computer (Mac OS X 10.6.7) and I get >> the following error message: >> >> ---------------------------------------------------- >> Running PyX-0.10/setup.py -q bdist_egg --dist-dir >> /tmp/easy_install-DNzGcZ/PyX-0.10/egg-dist-tmp-oh9bOA >> error: Setup script exited with error: SandboxViolation: >> mkdir('/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/share',) >> {} >> >> The package setup script has attempted to modify files on your system >> that are not within the EasyInstall build area, and has been aborted. >> >> This package cannot be safely installed by EasyInstall, and may not >> support alternate installation locations even if you run its setup >> script by hand.
