And it's at this point that I remember a feature request for the ATLAS pythia interface that I submitted some months ago: https://savannah.cern.ch/bugs/?39282 perhaps you could mention in your talk Andy that it would be a good idea for generators not to assume they will always be simulating pp collisions.
