[Rivet] Boost versionMike Seymour michael.seymour at cern.chWed Jul 2 12:51:24 BST 2008
Hi Lars, Sorry if I didn't make this clear in my first email ... Rivet compile and install worked fine. I install it in /usr/local The problems, both AIDA and boost, come when I want to compile and link some new external code against it. In particular, I write a Herwig::AnalysisHandler that creates and calls a Rivet::AnalysisHandler. It is when compiling my code that it looks in /usr/local/include for the AIDA and boost directories and does not find them. It does install without any problem. So it seems not to need the AIDA direcdtory in the installation/include path. I could also execute rivetgun, though Fortran Herwig did end gracefully without producing any event (presumably the dummy time subroutine feature), but in principle it is working. I found also some boost libraries on my laptop like e.g.: libboost_date_time.so.1.32.0 from which I would conclude version 1.32 Lars On Wed, 2 Jul 2008, Mike Seymour wrote: > Hi, > > I was wondering what version of boost rivet is supposed to work with - I couldn't find it documented anywhere. I was having a lot of installation problems and traced it to the fact that I have boost 1.33 on my system - some of the headers rivet needs are missing. Is it enough to copy across the contents of the /include/boost/ directory that comes with rivet, or do I need to upgrade my installation to the most recent version? This should probably be mentioned in GettingStarted. > > I likewise had to copy across the contents of the /include/AIDA/ directory by hand - this should probably also be either part of make install or mentioned in GettingStarted. > > Cheers, > Mike. > _______________________________________________ > Rivet mailing list > Rivet at projects.hepforge.org > http://www.hepforge.org/lists/listinfo/rivet > -- ________________________________ Lars Sonnenschein ________________________________ Home Institution: PH/TH 53/1-052 CERN CH-1211 Geneve 23 Switzerland Tel.:+41(22)767-2801 -------------------------------- ________________________________ FNAL: D0, PK151 Mailstop #352 Fermilab, P.O.Box 500 Batavia, IL 60510-500 USA Tel.: +1(630)840-8740 ________________________________
