There's one way to tell:

So it's probably not a problem in HepMC - maybe a memory problem in the
Pythia/Herwig HEPEVT common blocks that makes HepMC fall over? Could
this be a problem with common block int sizes etc. again? That was dealt
 with a long time ago, but maybe we accidentally changed something...

Can you try using Rivet HEAD with AGILe 1.1.1, in the interest of
narrowing it down? I'll try the same.
