[Rivet] Rivet validation effort and phone meetings

Hi everyone,

Now that we've hopefully recovered from the MCnet meeting, it's time to
concentrate on yet another Rivet version!

One lesson learned from Debrecen is that quality control is necessary:
systematically testing Rivet is no longer a luxury for "the release
after next". In the next couple of months we need to get a testing
infrastructure in place to ensure that a few key Rivet analyses work
with several generators, and that we can regression test between
different versions of generators and of Rivet itself. Frank Siegert will
be helping us with this, which is particularly welcome as he has
previous experience of setting up such a system for SHERPA, but we will
need all core Rivetters to get involved to some extent.

Now is also a good time to get back into the habit of regular phone
meetings. In the past we held these meetings at ~4pm UK time on Mondays,
at least every two weeks: is this still a reasonable time for the "core"
Rivet people, i.e. James, Frank S. & Hendrik (and myself!)? Others are
of course welcome, but let's not get overpopulated ;)

Finally, of course we always want more useful tuning analyses,
particularly anything that will tie down hadronisation, underlying event
and perhaps forward physics. If you think you can help but need a prod
in the right direction, let us know.

Best wishes,
Andy
