Because what we have been doing so far was wrong and only a crutch until 
we have HepMC 2.05 available such that we can get the cross section 
information.

The two things you have to rewrite are completely independent of each 
other. And if it causes a little more work for you, then sorry. But this 
is about getting physics right. I'm not prepared to give up cross section 
information; it is vital for many many analyses.
