Hi,

what's the contents of $LD_LIBRARY_PATH ? Since you've compiled with a
"non-system" compiler you have to set this environment variable to
contain the appropriate version of the system libraries (libstdc++.so in
this case). Usually there is a "setup.sh" script in the directory of the
compiler version that does this for you.

You can also try to do

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/afs/cern.ch/sw/lcg/external/swig/1.3.40/x86_64-slc5-gcc34-opt/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
