[Rivet] Question About RivetAlexander Richards richards at hep.ucl.ac.ukMon Mar 26 09:24:53 BST 2012
Dear Jinmian li, Firstly, if a Rivet developer sees any errors in what I say please correct me. No detector simulation is run as part of rivet. This is by design as rivet is a cross-experiment generator validation tool. Any detector simulation would either tie it to one experiment or mean that each experiments detector simulation would have to be included. This would not be very scalable not to mention needing specialist knowledge. The results can be trusted as the data which you compare the MC to has been corrected for detector effects such that both it and the generator output contain particle level information. Hope that helps Alex On 26/03/12 07:08, Li Jinmian wrote: > Dear All, > I am a graduate students in China and I am start to learning the Rivet. > > While I am doing the standard rivet analysis, just as recommend: > makefifo hepmc.fifo > agile-runmc Pythia6:426p12 --beam=LHC:7000 -n 2000 -o hepmc.fifo& > rivet -a MC_GENERIC hepmc.fifo > rivet-mkhtml Rivet.aida > I can get the some plots. > > My question is: > During the MC simulation, which part of the process do the detector simulation? > > If the detector simulation is not have been done, why the result can be trusted? > > Appreciate for you kindness help. > Best wishes! > Jinmian li > _______________________________________________ > Rivet mailing list > Rivet at projects.hepforge.org > http://www.hepforge.org/lists/listinfo/rivet
