Dear Andy,
thank you very much for your prompt reply. I think it would be good to have the bootstrap tool could warn you.

I was able to install rivet successfully on my lxplus account and have started to play with it.
Thank you very much,
  Cigdem

Hi Cigdem,

The issue is that your environment is the default SLC5 one, so you are
picking up the system's gcc4.1 compiler... which (in the infinite design
wisdom of SL/LCG) is not a supported LCG platform!

The Rivet "Getting Started" instructions demonstrate how to set up your
environment with the LCG gcc4.3 before starting the bootstrap process:
https://rivet.hepforge.org/trac/wiki/GettingStarted

I've also added an entry to the troubleshooting page now:
https://rivet.hepforge.org/trac/wiki/TroubleShooting

If it's an easy addition, I'll get rivet-bootstrap to provide a specific
warning for this situation, too.

Cheers,
Andy

PS. You should be able to use an up-to-date pre-built version of Rivet
from the Genser repository... does that not work, or do you need to
change/fix something in the core code?
