[Rivet] Merging aida files with different cross-sectionsAndy Buckley andy.buckley at ed.ac.ukWed Mar 6 17:50:45 GMT 2013
Hi Elena, Sorry that you didn't get a response before. With the currently released versions of Rivet you can only do this approximately. The 2.x release series will be able to do it properly... we're finally approaching a first public release of that. For the approximate merging there is an unofficial script here: http://rivet.hepforge.org/svn/contrib/aidamerge This makes an assumption about the sort of histograms that are being merged: it essentially assumes that they are normalised histograms or profile histograms, so that the error on each bin will scale as 1/sqrt(height). There is an implicit assumption in this code that the numbers of events and the process xsec in these files is the same, but the code is very simple on purpose so that you can edit it to add special scalings as you need. I hope that helps.
