Hi Grigory, the purpose of rivet-mkhtml is to create a plot website... so we need png files to display on the website, and thus the convert tool is necessary. If you only want to create a whole bunch of plots without website etc. then rivet-cmphistos + make-plots is the workflow you want. The seemingly inconsistent naming of the options can be explained by the fact that in rivet-mkhtml the option only specifies the *vector* format for the plots and the creating of the rasterised png's is a given for the reasons above.
