maybe to add:

I actually tried setting

export LATEXINPUTS="${datarootdir}/Rivet/texmf/tex//:$LATEXINPUTS"

(I am using the ATLAS installation, but set the texmf to the appropriate
standalone rivet installation on lxplus (which I think for plotting only
should be ~ok).

It would be great to get some feedback on whether plotting the
previously attached file actually works (then I'd try do install rivet
genuine on my laptop or somewhere just to be able to do the plotting --
I had to use the ATLAS installation for validation reasons before).
