 I am tone deaf. I have no sense of rhythm. Or that's how I was before I learned to play the harp. Those things can slow you down, but the nice thing about the harp is that it sounds pretty anyway. I started learning in my 50s. After a few years of playing, I've learned to hear notes better and can tell if a string is out of tune. After a year of really heavy practice, I've found rhythm. The harp is not as difficult as I thought. They have red strings for C notes and blue strings for F notes. So you know where your hands are. I suggest you learn how to read music first. But Harpo Marx, who really was a harpist, played by ear and never did read music.There are two basic kinds of harps. The concert or pedal harp. Those are big and might require a strong back. Although if you have a chair with a back on it, they aren't that stressful because it's balanced. These cost 10K and up.Then there is the folk harp aka celtic or Irish harp. There are several versions of these including ones that are small enough to sit on your lap and small floor versions. You can get them with levers to change notes to sharps. That is a challenge if you have an accidental, which is a one time sharp or flat and you have to change in the middle of the song. But you can avoid those songs or learn to be fast. These harps can range from about $300 for a 26 string with no levers to several thousand dollars.
