Hi all,

The plan was to release Rivet 2.1.2 yesterday, but Holger did some
useful testing and yesterday we re-enabled 2D histograms (and 2D
profiles for the first time) in Rivet! That includes plotting with
make-plots :-)

2D histos are almost fully supported in YODA, including Python mapping
and FLAT format output and reading; just the outflow treatment needs
some work. They can be booked as usual in Rivet although there is as yet
no system for getting hold of any 3D ref data... not that any such data
can be easily obtained, anyway! Those details can come in the next
version, along with a few other "advanced" YODA features.

I also did a fair bit of sed action on Rivet today, to use the
Particle::abspid(), abseta() and absrap() functions by preference in
quite a few cases and to add more direct kinematic methods to ParticleBase.

These versions are available as new beta and TEST tarballs in the
relevant place and the bootstrap scripts are updated in a new "2.1.2"
branch. They both build nicely on lxplus6 and on Holger's and my systems.

Since this stuff took a while to implement, we missed the intended
in-week release slot. It's the weekend now so I think it best to let the
code "rest" for a day or two, and maybe some of you will find issues
with it. Then I'll go through the release process on Monday. I'm very
pleased with this one... let's make Rivet 2.0.0 even more awesome ;-)

Have a good weekend,
Andy
