[Rivet] Rivet dev/BSM workshop scheduling pollAndy Buckley andy.buckley at cern.chMon Jun 20 20:56:58 BST 2016
Hi everyone, I've already been in direct contact with many of you about our plan for a Rivet development workshop in Scotland in September. The focus will be on finishing off some long-running projects like automatic handling of multi-weight events, and on kickstarting BSM uses of the tool by honing the new detector smearing features, connecting with other BSM pheno tools, and hopefully starting some productive collaborations. Our planned venue is a very nice ye olde Scottish castle overlooking the beautiful west coast near Oban, about 2.5 hours from Glasgow: http://www.lungahouse.co.uk/ I was there recently and it was a great place for isolation from the usual diet of meetings, and also as a start-point for anyone interested in exploring further north... or just as far as the Oban distillery according to taste ;-) Fingers crossed that we can get more weather like this: https://goo.gl/photos/i6tLCTDzMi5FVXkE7 The plan is for a 3-day meeting, either Monday afternoon to Thursday lunchtime, or Tuesday-to-Friday with the same times. Partial attendance is also fine, but please come for as much as you can. We hope to be able to cover a large proportion of your local accommodation and food costs, depending on the attendance. But we need to finalise the dates as soon as possible, hence this email and the Doodle link below; please complete it (and/or forward to others you know to be interested) asap: http://doodle.com/poll/t8hn79sfz2tfha6u I hope several of you will be able to attend, and that we can make it a productive meeting both for doing and for coming up with new ideas and plans :-) Best wishes, Andy -- Dr Andy Buckley, Lecturer / Royal Society University Research Fellow Particle Physics Expt Group, University of Glasgow
