[Rivet] Raghav & Holger WFinder "issues"Andy Buckley andy.buckley at cern.chThu May 26 13:04:41 BST 2016
Hi Riveters, Can someone please look into Raghav's code re. the apparent WFinder misbehaviour? I'm completely swamped at the moment, and won't have capacity for quite a while... and he deserves a reply. In case it's relevant, Holger and I looked again at his partonic event, and the problem there is (apparently) that the final state momentum is highly unbalanced (even transverse), so the visible momentum does not balance the invisible at all. I don't see how we can possibly operate with events like that, so it needs to be debugged upstream. Maybe Raghav's events suffer from some similar issue? To be clear: we are *not* going to introduce a global "is partonic" flag into Rivet, with potentially all behaviours changing as a result... that way madness lies! We should be able to handle partons with sensible HepMC-compatible status codes and kinematic frames without needing to treat them specially.
