[Rivet] different 'year' in routine names

Hi Andy,

this is basically what Graeme’s scripts are doing already — the ones he used to produce the yodadiffs in the parallel email thread. He’s set me up with his scripts now, I can commit them to the rivet trunk for the benefit of others (once we’ve ironed out some minor platform-specific issues in the scripts).

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks both -- yes, the date has always been a bit vague.

For future syncing, is it realistic that we can have a Python script that gets the list of all current analyses and their Inspire IDs, then queries the sort of parametrised URL given above? That seems plausible.

It's a minor thing so maybe not worth the hassle, but we could also maybe leverage the (so-far unused) analysis-aliasing mechanism that I added to Rivet to help with migrating analysis names from SPIRES-code names to Inspire-code names, to also handle data changes so that the canonical analysis name always agrees with HepData. This is probably more housekeeping than we have resources for, though.

Andy

Hi,

just to follow up — Graeme kindly explained to me how HepData chooses the plugin name and pointed out that you can pass a ?format=yoda&rivet={plugin name} to the url, e.g.

https://hepdata.net/record/ins1625109?format=yoda&rivet=ATLAS_2017_I1625109

which will overwrite its initial guess. I suppose there’s no need to make the plugin names match then.

Just to say, I’ve added this option to rivet-mkanalysis now as well.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi team,

while going through some of the mismatches between HepData and Rivet trunk I noticed that

ATLAS_2017_I1625109

in the Rivet trunk is called

ATLAS_2018_I1625109

by HepData.

This particular one popped on the arXiv in September 2017 and was accepted by the journal in February 2018. I would have thought 2017 is the year that matters since we want to be able to submit Rivet routines straightaway / we also have routines for conf note results, which don’t have journal acceptances.

What is the policy meant to be here?

Cheers,
Chris
