Dear LHAPDF user, We are currently engaged in designing a major upgrade to LHAPDF, to enable us to reduce memory overheads, remove usage restrictions, and break down the barriers that currently make it difficult for both PDF groups and LHAPDF developers to add new sets. Such an update will require significant changes to the LHAPDF code, while also subject to the constraint that it can be used with the most important legacy code. To help us in our re-design it's important that we hear from you, the users, on how you are using LHAPDF and what (if any) behaviours you would like to see change or stay the same. Please take a minute or two to answer the questions below: delete any sample answers (starting with a '*') and add extra comments if you think they could be helpful! 1. How are you using LHAPDF? * Showered & hadronised MC event generation (private) * Showered & hadronised MC event generation (large-scale production) * Fixed order MC calculation * Other (please specify) 2. What code interface do you use to access LHAPDF? * LHAPDF Fortran * LHAGLUE Fortran (like PDFLIB, used in e.g. Pythia 6) * C++ wrapper * Python wrapper * lhapdf-query script 3a. If using Fortran, do you access LHAPDF common blocks directly? 3b. If you answered yes to 3a, which ones? * PDFLIB w50511, w50512, w50513 * LHAPDF LHAPARM * Other (please specify) 4. If you can provide us with any code snippets of your typical LHAPDF use, particularly if you answered yes to question 3, please attach them to your reply. Best wishes, The LHAPDF (re)developers
