One approach you could take, especially since you seem to have the CERN
AFS mounted, is to edit the first line of the rivet-bootstrap script to read

DEVELOPERMODE="yes"

This will then check out and build Rivet and AGILe from SVN rather than
with the old released tarballs: hopefully this will then solve your
problem. You may need to clear up the "agile" and "rivet" symlinks
created by the first run of rivet-bootstrap before this works.
Essentially, this is the same as the manual install decsribed on the
website, but the script will do all the setup for you. Best wishes.
