Dear Riveties

is there perhaps a tool somewhere available for adding different aida
files ?

When trying to have large statistics we though of splitting jobs to run
in parallel, but then we would like to add the histos with cross
sections at the end.
Would be great, if someone would have a tool for this and would be
willing to share it....

Hi Hannes,

The Rivet AIDA files don't store enough information for fully-fledged statistical combination, so we don't provide any official scripts to do it. However, you might find this useful:

http://svn.hepforge.org/rivet/contrib/aidamerge

This assumes that the AIDA files supplied on the command line contain equivalent histograms with equal numbers of events, and the outputs are averaged over the number of files, which is probably most suitable for profile histograms, but it should still be useful, and extension/conversion is very easy.

An update of the Rivet histogramming to automatically do combination like this is quite well advanced, but will not be available until version 2.0.

Andy
