[Rivet] My rivet installation: HELP!

Dear authors,
  I'm having problems with the installation
(ubuntu 10.04.3,python2.6,boost1.41,gsl-1.13)
I get the following error message:

checking if /usr/bin/swig is compatible with the g++ compiler... no
configure: error: Can't build Python extension since /usr/bin/swig is not 
compatible with g++. Get a newer SWIG version!

I tryied with both swig 1.3 and 2.0.4 without success.
Should I re-install swig with some specific options ?
Any help will be strongly appreciated.
